About this workshop

Learn and fine-tune your techniques to create an embroidered patch. In this workshop, participants will learn how to digitize (design for machine embroidery) and embroider their own iron-on patch, with a focus on creating clean, embroidered borders without the use of other equipment (e.g. sewing or merrowing machines).

Note:

This intermediate workshop is targeted at students who already have basic digitizing and/or embroidery experience. If you'd like a more introductory course, please see our Party with Patches (Beginner) workshop!

A blend between digital design and machine hands-on
Our workshops begin with an orientation on the digitizing software, where you'll learn how to design for embroidery. Once you've gotten familiar, you'll work on your own design and prepare it for export.

The final part involves the actual embroidery, where you'll learn how to hoop and set up an embroidery machine. Once your threads, materials, and minds are set, you can then (finally) press START and watch your embroidery come to life!

Teaching style
We use a simple show-and-follow method, which makes it easy for you to follow step-by-step. We're cognisant of different experience levels in the room, so you'll find that we're thorough and slow to build up the pace.

Apart from digitizing and embroidery skills, all our workshops will give you an item you can be proud to take home and show others!
About Sam
Officially, Sam is the 2nd-generation owner of Shepha Embroidery Studio.

Unofficially, he's the resident machine technician, embroiderer, housekeeping, marketing, customer relations, strategist... you get the gist.

Sam has experienced every part of the embroidery process, and he's most passionate about sharing that knowledge with others through education.

What makes him tick: making his digitizing pixel-perfect

What ticks him off: when people ask if he can "scan" their images into embroidery (just kidding. he just kindly refers them to our workshops page)!

A light jacket for those who get chilly easily and happen to take a seat under the air conditioning.

Participants do not have to bring any embroidery materials; all equipment and materials for the workshop will be provided, including:
